What is engineering carrier ? and Engineering branches and its opportunities’

What is engineering??
Engineering is the practical application of science and math to solve problems, and it is everywhere in the world around you. From the start to the end of each day, engineering technologies improve the ways that we communicate, work, travel, stay healthy, and entertain ourselves.
Who are engineers?????
Engineers are problem-solvers who want to make things work more efficiently and quickly and less expensively. From computer chips and satellites to medical devices and renewable energy technologies, engineering makes our modern life possible. In particular, electrical engineers and computer engineers have a wide range of study options and career paths that let them design, build, and manage those ideas into reality.
About engineering study…….
During the time of 1997-2001 there were very less engineering colleges and average students usually did not get a chance to think about what is best course for them. As time moved ahead every state, specially south Indian states permitted many engineering colleges and gave students a chance to study their desired course.
This freedom also lead to the confusion among parents and students regarding the courses. Most of the parents see the market and trends to make a decision for their children. In 2001 most of the dot com companies failed leaving many of us job less.
During that everyone just ran for Electronics and communication engineering or Electrical Engineering. Adding more to depression, parents of first year students started ranking Computer Science below Civil Engineering.
Instead of doing little research or listening to the people in the industry most of parents just read news paper to make conclusions, which in long run make a deep impact on career and in turn whole life. Presently due to the global recession, ones again most of the people are in dilemma about Computer Engineering and Electronics Engineering.
Which course is best??........
Engineering is a basically a combination of theory and practical. Keeping this in view and thinking about the course will help you to make decision about you choice. Let  starts with Civil engineering, this is a wonderful course and almost every college have good infrastructure for this, both in terms of faculty and laboratories. On the other hand this is really a tough job and most of the going to sites and taking care of construction management stuff. You can not make good money in this field working for someone and starting own company need good investment and contacts, which is difficult for a common Indian family. Mechanical Engineering comes with similar issues.
Electronics and Electrical Engineering are very good and highly job oriented courses. No doubts and questions about that fact. But when it comes to faculty and practical experiments most of the colleges does not have sufficient infrastructure. Moreover after finishing most of these engineers work in software companies as there no sufficient companies who work in core areas of Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
At last we are left with Computer engineering and IT. The infrastructure required for these courses is very easy to provide and if teaching is not good at college finding a tutor outside even in a small town is not a problem. More importantly when google, Microsoft and other top companies come for campus interviews they don’t allow any other stream than CS and IT.
Even after electrical or electronics engineering one goes to software jobs, more over top software companies do not allow them to appear for test and interview. Therefore, don’t see any logic in going for these courses if computer science or IT is available. We have more software companies than any other companies. These companies pay good salaries and also give a chance for foreign assignments that will further enhance your personal and professional skills.

Engineering course selection:
Selecting an engineering course is a difficult choice because either your choice makes you happy rest of your life or after four years of engineering you try to change your field. In this we  post on which is the best engineering course to help students based on industry trends.

Mechanical engineering:
Mechanical engineering is one of oldest branch of engineering and this course is available in almost all engineering colleges across India. Mechanical engineering is really a broad field of engineering because of its application. It has application right from manufacturing plants, vehicles, ships, robots, heating and cooling systems, aircrafts, even in medical devices.
During the first year of Mechanical Engineering Degree students learn common engineering methods, mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering design. From second they are exposed to specialized subjects like mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, materials science, energy…etc. Mechanical Engineering students after graduation will have the knowledge of these engineering concepts and will be ready to use them for industry.
Mechanical Engineering have good prospects in industry as well as higher studies. Mechanical Engineering jobs don’t mean to work in a workshop like a labor. There are plenty of office work and because of vast application of computers in mechanical engineering. All designing and manufacturing process is automated and computerized. Therefore the job profile for mechanical engineering is almost similar to a computer engineer.
Every top university offering engineering courses have mechanical engineering and there is lot of research going on in very specialized fields of Mechanical Engineering. You can see a good amount of requirement for PhD and research students abroad.

What is the best course for girls in engineering???
Parents are always worried about which course is suitable for girls…….
Every engineering field have good opportunities provided if you work hard and be sincere. Apart from this  recommend that the courses for the girls can be in the below priority.
1.    computer science and information technology
2.    Electronics and communication engineering
3.    Biotech and Bioengineering.
4.    Chemical Engineering
All the above courses have both teaching, lab experiments and job are within the building and you don’t need to go out for educational reasons. Whereas other engineering course like Civil Mechanical even if you get a in-house job, for you course work one need to work outside without thinking about weather and environment.
For the above said courses you get sample and well paid opportunities in teaching as well as research and Industry, which usually girls prefer.

Once if you done with admission in any course, we have to concentrate and work hard to be best in that course.Best in any field is always rare and respected.so we suggest all of you to work hard and live to the dreams of your parents make them proud.
